From Gearhouse
to Formative.
In 2010, Gareth Hadden left Gearhouse to build something of his own and co-founded Formative: a boutique design and production house with one obsession, the shows everyone said were too hard. It grew into one of South Africa's premier creative-technical production houses.
Then came a merger. It taught us plenty, mostly about who we are. So we took the lesson, kept the obsession, and built ΛLCHEMY, keeping the cream of the team and sourcing new talent, projects and fun problems to solve... including creating LUMENOCITY.
This isn't a booking. It's a partnership.
We take on a handful of partners each year, with a few of our biggest annuals already held in the calendar. We choose our clients the way we would choose a partner, for the long run, and we hope you will choose us the same way.
